Giant Pyonephrosis


Abstract
One case of giant pyonephrosis is presented and the literature on the subject is, reviewed (length; 26 cm, width; 17 cm and its amount of caseous materials; about 2, 000 c. c.).
This patient was 21 years old female and right kidney was involved. Pyone¡þphrosis Js an infectious process involving predominantly the -renal pelvis and clices and destroying the renal substance. The renal pelvis is characteristically large, irregular. and fragmented. Rarely in association with pyelonephrosis, there is spontaneous production of gas within the upper urinary tract.
The patient described herein had the classical clinicopathological features and the collection of caseous material in dilated pelvis and calices.
